If you’re in the business off doing Casino reviews like I am, you come across games that make you laugh, get you excited, make you a little bored or at times make you as downright angry as I get when I miss the early-bird discount at a buffet by arriving a minute late. But that’s slot machines for you.
There’s that old saying about having to kiss a lot of frogs before finding your prince. And sometimes you have to play a lot of slots before finding some super slots that really light up your day or get you the sort of big wins on slots that lead you to call your travel agent and open up the conversation with the words: ‘Hey Chuck, I’m thinking somewhere sunny and hot and sandy for a week. How’s Cancun or Miami at this time of year?’
And with casino games it’s just like finding that one place that cooks a burger just like you like it: when you find one you really love it’s like making a new friend. And today I found Monkey King by those crazy kids at Yggdrasil.
You can read all about what makes it so special below but before you dive in like a drunk girl on spring break at a pool party, listen up.
There are always a load of free spin bonuses, including free spins no deposit bonuses to be found so you have a good chance of playing Monkey King without having to risk your own money.
I’ve listed all the great Free Spin & Bonuses offers right here so take a look to see what you can get. In some cases you might have to open an account but that’s a pretty quick process. Should take you about as long as it takes to make a Bloody Mary the morning after a night out on the town.
Anyway, let’s talk Monkey King.
The slot is based on the legend of Sun Wukong, a monkey born from stone in Ancient China who acquired supernatural powers such as being able to transform into other creatures or to travel hallway round the world with just one somersault. And they say Chuck Norris can do special things.
Well, here he’s the star of his own slot, a 5x3 reel game where most of the graphics are Oriental-themed. As are the symbols. There are vases, scrolls, crowns, shields and cauldrons plus some symbols that are just the four suits of a pack of cards.
There are special symbols in the form of Free Spins icons and two types of Wilds: a sticky Wild (reels 2 and 4 only) and a countdown Wild (reel 3 only) but we’ll discuss those when we look at the features.
But best of all is inevitably the Monkey King himself. He’s not a symbol as such because he doesn’t live within the reels. Rather, he appears in all his glory during the base game as we’ll soon find out.
There have been some pretty cool monkeys (I’ll extend it to ‘primates’ here) over the years. There was that Bubbles who was pals with Michael Jackson and that King Kong was a huge old beast but really a big softie deep down. And my big idol Elvis Pressley had a chimp that went by the name of Scatter. He was chauffered around town, ate at the table with a knife and fork and had a questionable habit of pulling up girls’ dresses. I bet those two had some really swell times!
Yet, I’m not sure any of them are quite as cool as the Monkey king himself.
Any three symbols in a row (they don’t have to be on the same line) guarantees you a win. The vase is the most valuable symbol of all, followed by the Cauldron, the Scroll and the Shield. The playing card symbols are the least valuable. So far, so good.
But let’s find out what those Wilds do.
This can appear on Reels 2 and 4. When it does, it stays there and will continue staying there as long as you keep on having winning spins. If you’re as lucky as that Tom Brady guy (he’s just about the best Quarterback in the world and married to Giselle) then you might get Sticky Wilds on both Reels 2 and 4. This happened to me and led to about 25 winning spins in a row because the two Wilds inevitably always meant you got a winning spin somewhere.
Get this on Reel 3 and it will stay there in position for exactly three spins. Unlike with the sticky Wild, it means that if you happen to not get a winning spin on your next go, you still have other chances to get a win.
If the Big Mac is the best burger at McDonald’s and Sheldon is the best character in that ‘Big Bang Theory’ show with all those clever comic book-reading kids, then the Monkey King feature is by far the best thing about this game.
The Monkey King randomly lands on the reels, Kung-Fu kicks a symbol of his choice and turns it into something that will help you. It could be adding another symbol to improve your win, creating a Sticky Wild or Countdown Wild or even giving you the third Scatter symbol (see below) you needed to get your free spins. Whatever it is he does, he has your best interests at heart.
If you get three Free Spins symbols you’ll get…free spins. Geez, even Penny out of Big Bang would have guessed that one.
But now it’s decision time. Because unlike in most other slots, you get to choose how you want your free spins to be served. Rare, medium rare…oh no, that’s steak. Ok, this is what you can really choose from:
Unlike with Baskin Robbins flavours (Peanut butter and chocolate) I’ll be completely honest when I tell you I really don’t have a favourite here. I’ve chosen all three at one time or another and I couldn’t say which one is most profitable. You really will have to play it to decide for yourself.
Occasionally a treasure chest appears on Reel 5. It will award you a random prize which could be anything between 40 and 1,000 coins.
There are no Jackpots on this slot but a good run with Sticky Wilds on Reels 2 and 4 will feel like one.
I’m not one of those folk who tweets or Facebooks every time I eat a cookie or tie up my shoelaces. But I do tell the world about something I really like and after rolling around in laughter at the sight of the Monkey King’s Kung-Fu kicks, I used my Social Media apps to tell my pals how much I loved this slot. If you loved it as well, why not do the same?
It’s at times like this that I love my job as much as Miley Cyrus likes a naked selfie. Monkey King made me some money while I was playing it but in addition to that, it made me laugh and always wonder what was coming next. And if that’s not the sign of a good slot then I don’t know what is.
It was a pleasure to play it and an even greater pleasure to write a casino review about it.
You now have your own chance to create your own Casino or Slot review right here so start spinning, start writing and start receiving because I’ll throw some free spins your way as a thank you for your time.
And don’t forget that if free spin & bonuses offers, sign-up offers, free spin bonuses and the all-important free spin no deposit promos are your glass of ice tea, take a look at my Casino reviews here at www. freespinbonuses.com to see what you can get and who you can get it from.
